From the serene landscapes of Malayalapuzha in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala to the bustling streets of Muscat, Ajitha Kumari’s journey is one of resilience, compassion, and determination. With ventures spanning from cargo logistics to garment retail, and her involvement in various charitable activities, Ajitha Kumari has carved a niche for herself as a dynamic force for change in both Oman and her native Kerala. Her story is not just about business success; it’s about the remarkable impact of empathy and the strength of the human spirit.

Ajitha Kumari’s inspiring life story is filled with entrepreneurial pursuits and a deep commitment to social causes. After completing her graduation from MGS College in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, she took a leap of faith and moved to Muscat in 1990, beginning her career as an administrative assistant at ESPN Channel. However, her strong cultural values led her to leave the position due to the strict dress code, a decision that marked the start of her entrepreneurial journey.

She then joined forces with Asma Kalifa Nazar Al Khalbani, an Omani native, in a construction business. By 1997, Ajitha ventured into the cargo handling industry with the launch of Smartline, a company that grew rapidly, boasting a fleet of six trucks at its peak before the challenges of COVID-19. Her resilience shone through, as she navigated through difficult years and continued to innovate with new ventures.

The years between 2014 and 2018 were a struggle but she was able to hold on in the market. In 2004, she had also started a furniture business with a factory in Barka but folded it up in 2014.

The entrepreneurial spirit in her never died and ten years later Ajitha has launched a new business venture. She has started a garment shop in Ruwi area called Alankar. Ajitha Kumari hopes to make it a big success to get funds for her social activities in Oman and Kerala.

Beyond her business acumen, Ajitha is deeply committed to social work. She provides daily meals to the needy, helps stranded women in Muscat, and is a trustee of the Satkarma Welfare Foundation, a charitable trust that intervenes in social issues in Kerala. She also helps students prepare for exams in association with Gandhi Bhavan. In Muscat, she is active in Sai prayer group that fulfills her spiritual longings.

A talented artist and writer, she channels her emotions into painting and literature, drawing inspiration from the renowned poet Sugathakumari. She loves to sketch beautiful paintings depicting the various hues of daily lives during her spare time. She was most prolific during the COVID period.

Ajitha has now taken a deep interest in parapsychology and is enrolled in a course to understand the phenomenon indepth.

For a soul in distress, Ajitha Kumari is a just a call away, for she is always ready to help. Her humble villa in Hamriya area of Muscat is an open house and hub of visitors and friends alike. A cancer survivor, Ajitha has fought many battles on her own. Even in her youth, life was a struggle for her as a single parent.

Ajitha’s father, Madhanan, was the manager at the Chengara Estate of Harrison Malayalam Plantations. Her mother, Sarojini, was a homemaker.
