Poppy Thomas, Managing Director and founding member of Majan International Petroleum Services LLC (MIPS), is a highly respected leader in Oman’s oil and gas industry. With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Thomas has worked with major global players like SHELL, ENI, and OXY, specializing in process engineering and project management across both green-field and brown-field developments.
In 2016, Mr. Thomas co-founded Majan International Petroleum Services LLC (MIPS), an Omani company specializing in delivering comprehensive oil and gas and electrical infrastructure projects. MIPS excels in the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of power plants, data centers, substations, and industrial systems. Known for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and safety, MIPS has become a leading supplier for major industry players including OXY, OQ, Daleel, CCDED, Oman Oil, Shell, BP, and more. Under Mr. Thomas’s leadership, MIPS continues to thrive, offering high-quality services and engineering expertise across a wide range of sectors.
Mr. Thomas began his career in 2001 as a Trainee Process Engineer at Kochi Refineries Limited (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited). He then gained valuable experience with companies such as Monsanto-DMCC Enviro-Tech, Chemtex, and Mott MacDonald, where he contributed to key projects for Petroleum Development Oman (Shell), Occidental Mukhaizna, Tebodin, and others. In 2011, he joined Occidental of Oman as Lead Process/Concept Engineer, heading the process design teams and managing large-scale projects, while also supporting the field development of Occidental of Oman.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Thomas is a dedicated family man. He is married to Beetha Thomas, a homemaker, and together they have four children: Ann Elizabeth, a 12th grader; Sarah Maria, a 7th grader; and twin boys, Thomas and George, who are seven years old. His father, P.F. Thomas, serves as the CEO of Kaja Group, and his mother, Jaya Thomas, is a homemaker.
A passionate football enthusiast, Mr. Thomas values the balance between career and family, believing that strong roots in family values and personal pursuits are key to his success. His leadership and vision continue to shape the future of the oil and gas sector in Oman and beyond.
