Cheerful and filled with joie de vivre as his name signifies, Sunny Jacob is a name that cannot be missed in the entrepreneurial world in Salalah. The General Manager of Technical Global Services, he is wielding his skill sets and experience to take his enterprise to newer shores and thus expand its footprints.
A Journey That Began in Changanassery
Sunny who hails from Changanassery in Kottayam District was born to the late Jacob Kuriakose, a merchant, and Annamma, a homemaker. After high school, he Completed his graduation in Economics from SB College in his hometown and later bagged a HACCP certificate in Fisheries. After higher studies, he joined his dad and began lending him a helping hand in business, something he continued until moving to the Sultanate of Oman.
In the Sultanate of Oman, Sunny began his innings by joining Protein Products International as a Production Manager in Fisheries in Muscat way back in 1997. He continued in that company until 2003 when he moved to Reliant Global Trading in Salalah in 2006. He served the firm engaged in providing firefighting solutions as Branch Manager for four years. It was in 2010 that he took the bold plunge and floated his own enterprise, Technical Global Services, with just four employees in the beginning. Ever since its inception, Technical Global Services has been a trustworthy provider of inspection, functional testing and maintenance services for fire protection systems.
Armed with his experience, vision and enterprising attitude, Sunny has been able to expand his company which counts 29 employees today. They take up projects across the Sultanate, including a project in Sohar. Very soon the company will shift its headquarters from Salalah to Muscat. Their clients are spread across commercial, residential, government and mercantile domains. Under Sunny’s watchful eyes, the enterprise takes care of the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of fire alarms and firefighting systems. They include deluge systems, sprinkler systems, gas-based suspension systems, and other related fire protection solutions. The company has also added Access Control Systems to its portfolio to provide a comprehensive security solution to clients.
The company has also integrated Access Control Systems, FM200 systems for fire suppression in critical environments, extinguisher services and top-notch fire protection systems in major power plants and industrial units in Salalah.
Some of their noted clients include the Royal Court of Affairs, Dhofar Power Company, Octal Petrochemicals, Sadha Plaza Hotel , L&T Oman, L&T India, Sohar City Centre, UHF Germany, Al Baleed Water Front Resort Projects, Drake&Scull, Fashion Apparels Bahrain, Danube Home Salalah, Al Shahin Saudi Arabia, Sohar Sugar Refinery Co and Ezahertz International .
Entrepreneur With a Social Face
Sunny has the rare ability to balance his business pursuits as well as his active social life. He is very much active in the Indian Social Club, which he joined in 2010 and the following year he became its Joint sports secretary and Sport Secretary. He continued in that position until 2016 and four years later, he was elected Vice-President and continues in that capacity. During the devastating COVID pandemic, He also led the team of volunteers to fetch masks and other Medical supplies to be sent to the Care
for Kerala Oman Muscat for being shipped to India. Sunny is also active in the Malayalam Wing of the Club in promoting humanitarian activities. He is also a committee member of the Roman Catholic Church in Salalah. In 2012, the Tamil Wing of the Indian Social Club honoured him and three years later, the Indian School Salalah recognised him during its 2015 carnival.
Family and Passions
Sunny is married to Jain Sunny, who is working with Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah and they have two daughters and a son. While Anna Sunny is a final-year Medical student in Poland and a Bharatanatyam aficionado, Angel Sunny is a student of Artificial Intelligence at Amity University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. She is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
Their brother Amith Sunny is a Class X student at Indian School Salalah and . Sunny loves sports, watching movies and news and is also fond of travelling. He has so far visited 14 countries and the list is all set to expand.
