Care Phone is a name that is quite familiar when it comes to purchasing mobile phones and accessories in Salalah. Under the stewardship of Mohammed Shareef, its Managing Director, the store has become synonymous with reliability and customer satisfaction.
From Cherpulassery to Salalah
Mohammed belongs to Cherpulassery in Palakkad District where he was born to the late A T K Haji, who was running a furniture business, and the late Ummachu, a house wife. After completing Pre Degree, he did odd jobs before moving to Salalah. There, in 2003, he forayed into business by starting an electronic goods shop named Salalah National Electronics with three staff. Ten years later, he rechristened it as Care Phone and the number of staff increased to seven.
Today, Care Phone has three branches—Salalah, Thumrait and Duqm—and the total number of employees is 65. It is one of the largest retailers of electronic goods in the country Mohammed has the dealership of all major brands of mobile phones, including Samsung and Oppo. Not content with sticking on to electronic goods alone, he has a car wash facility and a coffee shop. He runs his business with four partners who include his brothers and brother-in-law.
Family and Passions
A member of the Indian Social Club Malayalam Wing, he is married to Fayisa, a house wife, and they have five children. The eldest is Fathima Farhana, who is a BSC Physics student in Kozhikode, the second child Fathima Irfana is a cabin crew, the third child Mohammed Sinan is in Class X, the fourth Hadeena Mahrin is in Class VII and the fifth Hadhiya Nazrin is a Class I student. Though an astute, businessman, Mohammed does find time for cricket and badminton, his twin sporting passions. He is also equally passionate about singing and music.
