One such person is Rassal Mohammed, Founder and Managing Partner of Spring Field International Co LLC. Whether building an enterprise from the ground up or engaging in initiatives for education and community development, he has demonstrated the same enthusiasm and dedication in pursuing his objectives. Under his initiative, Spring Field has grown into a diversified provider of specialised products and services catering to the requirements of the Sultanate. Â
From Kunhimangalam to Salalah
Rassal hails from Kunhimangalam near Payyannur in Kannur District, Kerala, where he was born to M. V. P. Mohammed, a former General Manager of NMDC & MS, Kozhikode, and C. H. Khadeeja. He completed his degree in Commerce from Calicut University and, in 1998, joined Eureka Forbes as a Sales Executive in Kannur. During his four years with the company, he progressed to the position of Group Leader.
His transition to Sultanate of Oman came in 2002 through the efforts of his brother, Faisal Mohammed, who was then working as an accountant at Oman Gulf Co LLC in Thumrait. Rassal joined the company as a Site Coordinator and, over the years, progressed to become a Senior Purchase Officer. After nearly 15 years with the company, he left in 2017 with the ambition of establishing his own enterprise.
Alongside his professional experience, Rassal continued to enhance his managerial skills. In 2012, he completed an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), with a specialization in Purchase Management, from the Indian School of Business Management & Administration (ISBM), India. The qualification strengthened his knowledge and expertise in procurement, purchase management, business administration and business operations.
To give wings to his dream of setting up his own venture, Rassal established Spring Field International Co LLC in 2017, in partnership with Musallam Al Mahri and Siju Varughese. Business operations began with just a paint mixer. He started a shop selling Nippon Auto Paint, but his ambition for expansion soon encouraged him to venture into sub-contracting, gradually broadening the company’s activities and capabilities.
As the business gained traction, he and his team established an automotive workshop and, two years later, ventured into civil construction. Spring Field subsequently expanded into mechanical and lathe works, steel fabrication, Plant & Equipment dismantling, erection and commissioning, and other engineering activities.
Rassal and his team also developed the company’s store and warehouse facilities and expanded its range of paints and coatings, introducing brands such as Hempel, Sikkens Automotive Paint and Ritver. His experience in sales, marketing, procurement and logistics management has helped him build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while overseeing the company’s marketing initiatives.

Expanding Entrepreneurial Horizons
Rassal’s entrepreneurial journey has extended beyond engineering and industrial services into the hospitality and food-service sectors. In 2013, while he was working with Oman Gulf Co., he ventured into the hospitality sector by founding Thumrait Palace Restaurant, a multi-cuisine family restaurant in Thumrait. What began as an entrepreneurial initiative alongside his professional career grew into more than a dining establishment, becoming a place of warmth, hospitality and community connection. Today, the restaurant continues its journey under the management of his friend and business associate, Mr. Abdul Salam.
Continuing to expand his business interests, Rassal is also one of the Directors of the Penguin franchise at its Thumrait branch, further strengthening his involvement in the local business community.
These ventures reflect his approach to entrepreneurship identifying opportunities, taking calculated risks and creating businesses that serve both commercial and community needs.
Social Initiatives and Accolades
A man deeply committed to social causes and community welfare, Rassal Mohammed played a key role in forming the Thumrait Indian Social Association (TISA) in 2008 and served as its President for nearly a decade.
Recognising the need for an Indian school in Thumrait, Rassal and TISA approached the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman with the proposal. Their efforts led to the approval and establishment of Indian School Thumrait in 2011, initially offering education from Kindergarten to Class IV, which was later extended up to Class VII. Today, the school has nearly 100 students and 10 faculty members. Rassal has been serving as the President of the School Management Committee (SMC) of Indian School Thumrait since its inception and continues to hold the position, contributing to the school’s development and educational initiatives.
Under his leadership, TISA organised major cultural events, social welfare initiatives and community programmes, strengthening the bonds among the Indian community in Thumrait. He is also an active member of the Indian Social Club, Malayalam Wing.
In Salalah, Rassal took the initiative to establish the Leaders Forum, bringing together leaders and representatives from various organisations on a common platform to promote communication, collaboration and community engagement, with a focus on the betterment and welfare of the wider community.
His contributions have received recognition on several occasions. In 2023, he was honoured with the Manavikatha Award by IQRA’A Care. Two years later, he was felicitated by Media One for his services in the educational field. In 2026, he received the PCWF Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education.
Passion and Family
When Rassal is not engaged in business meetings, entrepreneurial activities or community initiatives, he devotes time to his passion — the gentleman’s game.
He is married to Shyma Ibrahim Kutty, a History graduate, who has been a strong and steadfast supporter of his entrepreneurial journey. They have three children.
Their eldest, Rishal Rassal Mohammed, is pursuing BCA AI at Srinivasa University, Mangaluru. Their second child, Razin Rassal, is studying in Class X at Indian School Salalah, while their youngest, Rihan Rassal, is in Class IV.
