A Journey That Began in Kondotty
Dr Rasheed was born in Kondotty in Malappuram District to Kottanadutodi Mohamed Kutty Haji, a farmer, and Edakotte Madamkuthuu Ayisha, a homemaker. After completing his Pre-Degree at Farook College in Kozhikode, he studied Medicine at the Government Medical College in Kozhikode. After graduating, he gained valuable experience by working in different clinics for three years before bagging the 36th rank in the postgraduate entrance exam.
He did his MD in General Medicine in Bengaluru, after which he served at Vadakara Cooperative Hospital for one year. This strengthened his clinical experience and professional expertise. It was in 2010 that he moved to Oman and joined Badr Al Samaa Hospital, where he worked for four years. His experience in the healthcare sector, combined with his vision and entrepreneurial spirit, inspired him to blaze a new trail in 2014.
That year, he entered the world of healthcare entrepreneurship by establishing Al Salama Polyclinic in partnership with Dr Siddique. Under his diligent leadership and vision, the establishment expanded its presence through multiple centres such as Modern Al Salama Polyclinic (Mabela), Modern Al Salama Polyclinic (Al Ansab), Al Salama International Medical Centre (Halban), and a new venture is going to be opened in Al Amerat.
His entrepreneurial journey witnessed the establishment of several other healthcare ventures. The network has grown into an organisation comprising around 300 staff and 60 doctors. The prominent healthcare establishments are Al Shifa Family Dentistry (Halban), Rawabi Medicare in Al Khoud, an outdoor pharmacy, Al Salama Opticals, and Elixer Prime Pharmacy in Dubai.
Through these ventures, Dr Rasheed has demonstrated that healthcare entrepreneurship can go beyond business–it can become a meaningful avenue for serving communities and improving access to medical care.
Passions, Family and Accolades
Beyond his professional commitments , Dr Rasheed is a passionate sports enthusiast. Football holds a special place in his life as he has always made time for the sport whenever possible. During his younger years, he was an active member of the Prateeksha Club in his native place, participating enthusiastically in football and cricket matches. His sporting journey reached a notable milestone when he represented the Medical College football team in national-level tournaments.
His interests extend beyond football and cricket to volleyball and reading, reflecting his energetic and well-rounded personality. Family remains an equally important part of his life. Dr Rasheed is married to Jassela K V, Software Engineer, and they are blessed with two children: Amish Affan, an MBBS student at Govt Medical College Thiruvananthapuram, and Haya Fathima, a student at Sadbhavana School, Kozhikode.
Dr Rasheed’s professional and social contributions have fetched him several awards and recognitions from the KMCC, Muscat Malayalam Forum, and Indian School Mabela. His commitment to community welfare extends beyond his professional responsibilities. He serves as the President of the Dialysis unit in Muscat and is associated with the Shihab Thangal Charitable Dialysis Centre in his hometown.
His philanthropic activities reflect a strong belief that the true value of success lies in the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
As a physician, he has dedicated himself to healing. As a businessman, he has created opportunities and expanded healthcare services. And as a philanthropist, he has continued to extend his support to those in need. His journey is not merely a story of professional success.
