Dr Saji Uthuppan
From making a mark in academics to dedicating one’s efforts to uplift the underprivileged, Dr. Saji Uthuppan is second to none. Among the galaxy of stalwarts in academia in the Sultanate of Oman, this Malayali NRI has been shining bright for more than 26 years. To him goes the credit of preparing Royal Oman Police (ROP) officers across various departments for IELTS exams and General English proficiency. Now, he continues his journey in education as a lecturer of English at Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) in Muscat where he helps students crack the IELTS tests.
A Journey That Began in Ernakulam
Dr.Saji belongs to Tripunithura in Ernakulam where he was born to Uthuppan and Mariyam Uthuppan. He completed his Pre-Degree from The Cochin College in Kochi and went to Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad, Kottayam, for his graduate studies. He did his Master’s from SH College Thevara in Ernakulam. It is from Aston University in the UK that he completed his Teaching of English as a Foreign Language certification. Later, he did his doctoral studies at the YBN University in Jharkhand. His big break in career came when was fortunate enough to move to Oman and join ROP as a civilian officer in 2001. His prowess in handling the language, his empathy, and gentlemanly conduct made him rise up the ranks to become First Lieutenant in Civilian Officer Grade.
This academician, who also has a master’s degree in education, deserves kudos for training officers in several departments, including Ambulance Division, Civil Status, Customs and Traffic. He is also one of the founders of the Ambulance Division and the Civil Status Division and helped mentor countless officers in their efforts to crack the IELTS exams. After a successful career at ROP, Saji decided to move on and joined OCHS, where he inspires children by offering guidance and educational support, nurturing their talents, and helping them achieve their full potential, preparing the paramedics for IELTS Exams.

A distinguished academician, Saji has made significant contributions to his field by means of research and publications. This shows his commitment to enhancing educational practices. In addition to his academic pursuits, Saji is deeply passionate about social service. He dedicates a substantial amount of his time to finding ways and means to uplift underprivileged communities and address social inequality. Family and Passions
Dr.Saji enjoys the unbridled support of his better half Soji Kurian, a nurse, and they are blessed with one child—Mariam Liana Saji, who is in Class VIII. Music and journalism appear to be his twin passions. While serving in the ROP, he was also bestowed with the gold medal for best service.
