From an entry-level IT programmer in Bangalore to a brilliant entrepreneur with sharp vision and acumen, the career trajectory of Ajit Vasudevan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Continuity Business Solutions, a company he founded in Oman, is a textbook example of strategic planning and calculated moves to write a success story without compromising on his social commitment.
Today, Ajit is a seasoned business and technology leader with over two decades of experience in the banking, technology, and consulting sectors, having held senior positions in prominent organizations across India and the Middle East. His company specializes in providing business and digital transformation, strategy services, enterprise level customer loyalty program solutions and cutting-edge software development, bridging the gap between operations, customer experience and information technology.
Hailing from Vadakkencherry, in the Palakkad district of Kerala, Ajit had a humble upbringing. His father, C. Vasudevan, now retired, and his mother, Ratnamma, a homemaker, ensured his academic growth, which catalysed his future course of life. After his schooling, Ajit completed his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Industrial & Production Engineering from Mangalore University and went on to pursue a Postgraduate Certification in Business Management (PGCBM) from XLRI, one of India’s premier business schools.
Career Journey
Ajit began his career in 2000 as an IT programmer with Pentasoft Technologies Ltd. in Bangalore, where he worked for a year. In 2001, he moved to Laser Soft Infosystems Ltd. in Chennai, spending three years as a key player in their tech team. His career took a significant turn in 2004 when his techno-functional leadership role at Laser Soft Infosystems Ltd. required him to relocate to Muscat, Oman, to support the technology team at Bank Muscat. In 2006, Ajit joined National Finance Company. Over the next 15 years, Ajit contributed to the company’s rapid growth, serving as Head of Lending, Transformation and Channels. He played a pivotal role in expanding the retail finance sector in the Sultanate, demonstrating his leadership and innovative thinking. The first mobile application for a finance company in Oman, the first fully-functional automated customer service kiosk for a finance company in Oman and the first state of the art call-center for a finance company in Oman were some of the key achievements spearheaded by Ajit at National Finance. Ajit led National Finance through a business and digital transformation journey expanding the network of branches from 4 to 12 in 5 years and implementing a new, cutting edge core lending system in the Company. During Ajit’s tenure, National Finance catapulted to be the number one finance company in Oman, a position it holds till date.
In 2021, Ajit moved to United Finance Company, where he served for one year as Head of Digital Transformation and Service Quality before establishing Continuity Business Solutions (CBS) in 2022. His company focuses on enterprise level business and digital transformation, offering customer loyalty solutions, enterprise mobility solutions, management consultancy services and corporate training. Under Ajit’s leadership, CBS has developed a technology driven customer loyalty program and end-to-end software solutions across various industries.
Ajit’s expertise lies in banking, finance, strategy, customer experience and technology, with a strong focus on mentoring and corporate training. Ajit is deeply involved in the community schooling and education system in Oman, having served on the Academic Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman. He was also the Convenor and Academic Head for Indian School Darsait for 6 years. Ajit is currently the Convenor for Indian Social Club Oman – Malayalam Wing, one of the oldest and most active Indian expatriate community organisations in Oman. His company also offers psychometric assessments for students to help them discover their natural skills, as well as career counselling and faculty development programmes.
Ajit’s passion for community service extends to upskilling Omani youth through training programmes tailored to the local job market. His company also offers corporate training, focusing on leadership development, strategic HR interventions, and performance management. Additionally, CBS serves as an SME incubator, helping start-ups grow through mentorship and strategic advice.
CBS also provides strategic consulting services, helping businesses achieve continuous improvement and growth by leveraging technology, efficient processes and customer-centric products that transform the way the organization interacts with its customers and marketplace. These services include policy framework development, process optimisation, turnaround consulting, customer expectation mapping, training & development and digitization. Ajit is married to Pallavi Ajit, an Electronics and Communication engineer. They have one son, Advaith Ajit, who is currently a 10th standard student at the Indian School Darsait in Muscat. A motivational speaker and an orator, Ajit balances his professional commitments with his love for reading and contributes to social causes through occasional writing and community service.
