Among the younger crop of medipreneurs who are being noticed in the Sultanate is Dr Siddeeque Mankada, who helms the Al Salama Enterprises LLC, which runs two polyclinics in Al Mabelah and Al Ansab near Muscat, having the same moniker. However, his realm of activities is not confined to the medical field. He is an active member of the SMC of Indian School Seeb, in which he is serving as Chairman of HSE and Co-Curricular Activities.
From Mankada to the Gulf
Belonging to Mankada in Kerala’s Malappuram District, Siddeeque was born to businessman Mohammed TT and homemaker Fathima Kutty. He did his graduation in Oriental Studies and Arabic Literature from the University of Calicut and his Master’s in Arabic Literature from the same varsity. Later, he went on to bag a Master’s in Business Administration in Marketing and Business Management from the National Institute of Business Management and another MBA in Hospital Administration from the Jaipur National University.
It was at the dawn of the new millennium that Siddeeque went to the Gulf and he worked as HR Coordinator at Salahaysh Trading Est in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2003, he came to Muscat, where he joined Badr Al Samaa Hospital in Ruwi as its PRO. After serving in that capacity until 2012, he worked with Lifeline Medical Hospital’s branches in Sohar, Salalah and Ruwi until 2013 as Admin Manager.
Siddeeque, who has a doctorate in Hospital Administration from Global Human Peace University in the USA, began his entrepreneurial stint in 2014 as the Managing Director of Al Salama Polyclinic, which has branches in Al Mabelah, Al Ansab and Halban. The expertise he has gained from training programmes in personality development, customer relations, human relations and time management come in handy when it comes to managing the affairs of his endeavours.

The medipreneur is also a member of the Kerala Mappila Kala Academy and he was feted with the APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Social Work Excellence. Siddeeque is also very much active in KMCC, ICF and Nethaji Football Club in the Sultanate.
Family and Hobbies
He enjoys the staunch support of his family comprising his wife and four children. Siddeeque’s wife, Junaira, is an MBA holder from Jaipur National University and she lends a helping shoulder as the partner of Al Salama Medical Centre. Their daughter Aisha is a graduate in Psychology from Mazoon College, Muscat, and is currently pursuing a UK-based course. Their son Sajad Ahmed did his MBA at Jaipur National University, the alma mater of his mother, and is currently working in Avaneer Medical Centre in Al Mabelah. The third child Sajeer Ahmed is a third-year medical student at Yenepoya University in Mangaluru, Karnataka, while the youngest Sabir Ahmed is in Class XII. When not engaged in entrepreneurial pursuits, Siddeeque finds time to watch football and volleyball, his twin passions.
