Dr. Ubaid NP
MBBS, MD, Medical Director,
Ghala Clinic and Pharmacy, Muscat, Oman
In the world of modern healthcare, where compassion must walk hand in hand with clinical expertise, Dr. Ubaid N.P. stands out as a physician who embodies both with quiet distinction. A General Practitioner and Public Health Specialist with a deep-rooted commitment to community well-being, Dr. Ubaid has carved a niche for himself in Oman’s medical landscape. As the Medical Director of Ghala Clinic and Pharmacy in Muscat, he has built more than a healthcare facility — he has nurtured a sanctuary of healing that reflects his belief in patient-centered care, ethical practice, and social responsibility. His journey, shaped by a passion for medicine and a heart for service, is a testament to how one doctor’s vision can touch countless lives.
Hailing from Feroke, a serene town in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, Dr. Ubaid was raised in a household where values of service, discipline, and ambition were deeply embedded. His father, N.P. Abdul Hameed, is a respected businessman and politician, known also for his role as Director of the MVR Cancer Centre. His mother, Safiya, brought warmth and balance to the family as a devoted homemaker. The solid grounding in values and a tradition of social responsibility at home would profoundly influence the path Ubaid chose for himself.
Fuelled by an early passion for medicine and community welfare, he earned his MBBS and later pursued an MD in Community Medicine from the prestigious Government Medical College, Pariyaram in Kannur. This specialization not only sharpened his clinical acumen but also equipped him with the tools to serve the broader public health system — a mission he embraced with both heart and intellect.
Dr. Ubaid’s career began in academia, serving as Assistant Professor at KMCT Medical College, Mukkam, Kozhikode, from 2016 to 2019. His tenure as an educator allowed him to mentor budding physicians, but he also remained deeply engaged in real-world public health challenges. He worked under the aegis of the World Health Organization (WHO) for supervising National Immunization Programme at grassroot level in India, His involvement during the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, showcased his commitment to frontline service. Working on field surveillance and containment measures during one of Kerala’s most critical health emergencies was a defining moment in his journey — a moment that underscored the value of vigilance, swift response, and collaboration in saving lives.
In 2019, Dr. Ubaid transitioned to Oman, joining Al Salama Polyclinic in Al Mabela, Muscat. His exposure to the healthcare needs of the growing Indian and multicultural population in the Sultanate inspired a new dream — to build a clinic that combined quality, affordability, and compassion.
That dream became a reality in 2021 when he took the helm of the Ghala Clinic and Pharmacy. What began as a modest solo venture quickly expanded into a trusted healthcare destination, known for its personalized care and wide range of services. Today, the clinic proudly houses specialized departments in gynecology, pediatrics, and dental care, with a team of highly regarded professionals including Dr. Susan David, who leads the Obstetrics and Gynecology wing. Dr. Ubaid’s leadership as Medical Director has not only ensured the clinic’s medical excellence but also its human touch — a rare blend in modern healthcare.
His exceptional contribution to the health sector in Oman was recognized on February 7, 2025, when Prachodana Malayali Samajam Muscat honoured him with an award, further cementing his status as a trusted and respected name in the community. Beyond his professional affiliations, such as with the Indian Medical Association’s Nedumbassery chapter, Dr. Ubaid remains closely tied to his roots and committed to the welfare of his fellow expatriates.

But there’s more to Dr. Ubaid than medicine and management. A man of many talents, he is a passionate footballer and an accomplished keyboard and piano player, often turning to music as a refuge and creative outlet. He also enjoys cooking, finding joy and therapy in crafting meals for his family — a glimpse into the warm, nurturing side of a man so often seen in clinical whites.
On the personal front, Dr. Ubaid shares his life with his wife, Marwa Asma Farooq, an electrical engineer with an M.Tech from B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai. Together, they form a partnership grounded in mutual respect and ambition. The couple is blessed with three sons — Ilhaf, a fifth grader with a curious spirit; Ishaq, in kindergarten; and little Imaad, the newest joy in their family.
What makes Dr. Ubaid’s journey truly remarkable is not just the steady climb through academic and professional milestones, but his unwavering sense of purpose. He embodies the ideals of modern medicine — not as a business, but as a commitment to humanity. His story is one of resilience, vision, and empathy — a story that continues to inspire those who believe that healthcare can, and should, be a force for good.
In an era of specialization and digital detachment, Dr. Ubaid N.P. is a refreshing presence — a community-oriented doctor who listens, heals, and leads with heart. As his clinic continues to grow, so too does his influence, quietly but profoundly shaping the healthcare narrative of Oman’s multicultural society. And in doing so, he proves that healing begins not just with medicine, but with intent.
