Faizal Aluva
Founder and President, Ruwi Malayali Association
|
A leader of action and a voice of compassion, Faizal Aluva has emerged as one of the most respected figures among the Malayali expatriate community in Oman, while steadily establishing himself as a Construction Design Engineer. From spearheading cultural initiatives to championing humanitarian relief and labour rights, he has consistently placed service to society at the core of his leadership. Hailing from Aluva in Ernakulam district of Kerala, he brings to public life the values instilled by his parents, his father, Saidu PM, a social worker and member of the Ernakulam District Committee of the Indian Union Muslim League and President of LNS Ernakulam District, and his mother, Halima Saidu, a homemaker. These values shaped a lifelong commitment to community, fairness, and responsibility.
The career ladder
Professionally, Faizal has built a solid career in construction design. He currently serves at Al Tasnim Enterprises LLC, Muscat, where he has been a Design Coordinator since 2009. He first arrived in Oman in 2007 with clear career ambitions, determined to translate his training into real-world impact and to grow in a competitive industry. Before moving abroad, he completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic, Kalamassery, and began his career in Kerala with KMEA Engineering College, Edathala (2003-2005), followed by Issac Design, Aluva (2005–2006), and Deltec Homes, Edathala (2006-2007). His first overseas role was with Shanfari Trading & Furnishing Co. LLC, Oman (2007-2009). The discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving demanded by these roles laid the foundation for everything he would later build in the community, such as methodical planning, accountable execution, and a practical sense of how to get things done.

Committed to social causes
That same professional grounding became the springboard for his social leadership. As Founder and President of the Ruwi Malayali Association (RMA), Faizal has helped shape the organisation into a vibrant hub for cultural engagement and welfare support, dedicated to uniting Malayalis in the Ruwi area irrespective of caste, religion, or politics, while operating in full compliance with Omani law. Under his stewardship, RMA has delivered visible, people-first programmes: blood donation camps in partnership with Oman Blood Bank and Lulu Hypermarket that drew more than 100 donors; health awareness sessions and medical support initiatives; and engaging activities for children and families such as drawing competitions and school workshops. The lively Fami Fest 2024, with Malayalam actor Dr. Talib Al Balushi – known for his roles in Aadujeevitham and Zayana – as chief guest, was another highlight. The grand Onam celebrations organised by RMA also marked the launch of the RMA Privilege Card. Developed in collaboration with more than 25 local businesses and still expanding, the Privilege Card provides members with tangible day-to-day benefits while strengthening RMA’s ties with the local economy. The association has also placed emphasis on academic excellence, honouring students such as CBSE Plus Two topper Yadukrishna, thereby reinforcing education as a shared community priority.

Faizal’s humanitarian work is structured and carefully documented, reflecting his belief that relief efforts must be transparent, timely, and accountable. In 2022, RMA channelled Rs. 2,25,000 to individuals in crisis; in 2023, support increased to Rs. 3,21,000, prioritising orphans and families facing critical medical challenges; and in 2024, Rs. 1,50,000 was allocated for urgent cases, with a reserve maintained for emergencies. Beyond numbers, the interventions tell the story: securing an airline ticket for a cleaning worker stranded after a leg fracture, enabling a mentally challenged son and his mother to return safely to India, and assisting a patient who required specialised medical care following an attack.

Further, through KMCC Al Khoudh, where Faizal serves as Secretary, he has also coordinated disaster relief and wider social support, contributing to the Turkey–Syria earthquake relief effort led by KMCC Muscat; responding swiftly to the Wayanad floods, in line with the call from Panakkad Sayyid Sadiqali Shihab Thangal ; and delivering essential supplies to affected families. He is also the Committee Member of Metropolitans Ernakulam Oman Chapter, which is a collective of Eranakulam natives in Oman, which focuses of social and cultural activities.
His advocacy extends to labour support and embassy coordination. Faizal has personally engaged employers to resolve disputes, paid electricity bills for families in severe financial difficulty, and presented critical cases at Indian Embassy Open House sessions to expedite documentation for stranded workers. In one notable case, he intervened to help two workers who had gone unpaid for 16 months, ensuring they received pending wages, compensation, and tickets home. The throughline in all of this is simple: use structure to serve compassion, and make sure help arrives where it is needed most.

Amid these responsibilities, Faizal’s personal life remains grounded and family-centred. His wife, Shereena Faizal, a B.Com graduate, now dedicates her focus to raising their children, Muhammad Hanan Bin Faizal, in Grade 6, and Hanina Faizal, in Grade 2, anchoring the home with steadiness and care. Outside work and community roles, he enjoys reading, football, and cricket, interests that provide balance and connection, and that keep him close to the rhythms of everyday life he works so hard to support.
Faizal Aluva’s journey reflects steady growth rooted in service. His career as an engineering professional in Oman gave him the platform to organise and support his community, while his leadership has been defined by practical relief and advocacy. He is recognised as a community leader who measures success by the help he delivers and the dignity he protects. Through his work in organisations and his professional commitment, he has given the expatriate community in Oman both a representative voice and a dependable hand; one that acts, follows through, and ensures no genuine call for help goes unanswered.
