For Kiran Parameswaran Kavassery, music has been more than an interest – it is a calling that has guided his journey from the classrooms of Muscat to international stages. Today, he is one of the most sought-after voices in Oman.
Blending discipline, talent, and versatility, Kiran has carved a space for himself as a performer who effortlessly traverses different genres of music. Alongside his artistic pursuits, he has also ventured into the unique field of astrology, becoming a certified astrologer and one of the panellists on the AstroTalk app – a rare blend of creativity and intuition.
Hailing from a family where excellence and values run deep, Kiran completed his entire schooling (KG to 12th grade) at the Indian School Muscat (ISM), where he was recognised as “Mr. Talented” in his graduating year. His academic journey reflects a global outlook: a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Garden City University, Bengaluru, followed by a Master’s in Management from Brunel University, London. But beyond academics, it was music that consistently defined his identity – a passion his parents wholeheartedly supported.
From the fifth grade onward, Kiran was a familiar face on stage, representing ISM in both singing and dance. His performances soon extended beyond the school arena, gracing prestigious venues such as Al Bustan Palace – a Ritz Carlton Hotel – where he sang for a charity fundraiser, and the City Amphitheatre in Muscat, where he performed to an audience of over 5,000 with the MKP Band. He went on to share the stage with celebrated artists like Madhu Balakrishnan and Usha Raj, while also starting his own music band, Trinity, with friends. His journey includes devotional singing at temples and churches, recording popular covers such as Tum Hi Ho, Janam Janam, and All of Me, and building an online presence through his YouTube channel “Kiran Param”.
Kiran’s versatility as a musician saw him become a sought-after judge for talent shows, including Nesto’s Super Singer, inter-school festivals, and linguistic wing contests of the Indian Social Club, Muscat. His repertoire spans Bollywood, Western, Carnatic, Sufi, Ghazals, and Bhajans – a diversity that connects him with audiences across cultures. In 2017 , in collaboration with Charisma Events, an event management group in Oman, he organised a concert at Al Falaj Hotel, donating OMR. 5800 to the Association of Early Intervention in Children with Disabilities – a gesture reflecting his commitment to using art for social good. His presence at prestigious cultural occasions, including the birthday celebrations of the legendary Dr. Balamuralikrishna in Chennai, where he performed before dignitaries such as S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, T.V. Gopalakrishnan, Y.G. Mahendran, Navya Nair, and the Governor of Tamil Nadu, R.N. Ravi, remains a highlight of his career.
Alongside music, Kiran continues to grow as a certified astrologer. His insights and guidance on platforms like AstroTalk have earned him recognition as a trusted voice among seekers, adding yet another dimension to his multifaceted personality.
Family Influence
Much of Kiran’s journey is rooted in the values imbibed from his parents. His father, Kavassery S. Parameswaran, hailing from Palakkad district in Kerala, is currently the General Manager of Khimji Ramdas Insurance Services, a Financial Services Authority (FSA)-licensed broking company in Oman. A seasoned professional with over three decades of leadership across technical, management, and business development roles, he has held positions such as Group CEO of Himaya Insurance Services LLC & Medcare LLC, Delegated CEO at Muscat Insurance Company SAOG, and Senior Business Development Manager at AXA Insurance (Gulf). He also served as a Board Member and Audit Committee Chairman of the Omani Unified Bureau for the Orange Card SAOC, an organisation jointly owned by leading insurance companies in Oman. His career stands as a model of client-centric leadership, operational excellence, and innovation in the insurance sector.
Kiran’s mother, Sreevidhya Parameswaran, is an accomplished singer in her own right. From her, he inherited his musical sensibility, nurturing his voice under the guidance of Dr. Shri Krishnakumar and Smt. Binni Krishnakumar, disciples of Dr. Balamuralikrishna. Her influence has been pivotal in shaping his training and inspiring his deep commitment to music.
Kiran’s identity cannot be confined to performance alone. A footballer during his school days who represented ISM in the Copa Cup, a singer who moves seamlessly between temples and auditoriums, and a professional who balances modern education with ancient wisdom through astrology, Kiran is a truly multifaceted personality. His journey represents a blend of heritage and modernity, discipline and creativity, individual achievement and social contribution.
