Born on July 17, 1963, in Taliparamba, a culturally rich town in Kerala’s Kannur district, Murali was raised in a family that placed great emphasis on education and service. His father, the late Kunhiraman, was a government contractor with the Public Works Department — a figure of discipline and responsibility. His mother, Devi, is a homemaker whose nurturing presence shaped the values of the household.
Murali’s academic journey reflected both his intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellence. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Commerce (B.Com and M.Com) from the University of Calicut, followed by a Higher Diploma in Cooperation—a rare combination that gave him a strong foundation in finance, administration, and organizational dynamics.
Murali began his professional life in 1985 as a teacher at Akshara Parallel College in Payyannur. It was here that he first demonstrated his ability to mentor, manage, and communicate effectively—skills that would later serve him well in the world of business. Though education was his first calling, Murali felt drawn to the broader challenges and opportunities that the corporate world offered.
In 1989, Murali made a significant leap in his career — and in geography — by relocating to Oman, a country rapidly growing and opening doors to professionals from across the globe. He joined Building Supplies & Services, where he would remain for the next 17 years. Starting from a foundational role, Murali steadily rose through the ranks to become Assistant Manager (Commercial). His tenure at BSS gave him deep insight into supply chain management, customer relations, and the specialized domain of construction and architectural products.
His methodical approach, coupled with an innate sense of fairness and professionalism, earned him a reputation as a dependable leader and problem solver in Oman’s competitive construction supply industry.
In 2008, Murali was appointed General Manager at Modern Excellent Enterprises, a leading supplier of architectural products in Oman. Since then, he has been at the helm, steering the company through market fluctuations, evolving customer demands, and the increasingly sophisticated landscape of architectural innovation.
Under his leadership, Modern Excellent Enterprises has carved out a niche as a specialist supplier, known for quality, reliability, and excellent customer service. Murali’s eye for detail, his deep understanding of commercial operations, and his ability to foster trust among clients and colleagues alike have helped the company maintain a solid reputation in the Omani market.
Away from boardrooms and business meetings, Murali is a man of many interests. He enjoys travel, and is an ardent follower of football and cricket—passions that keep him grounded and connected to his roots. He is also a former member of the Malayalam Wing of the Indian Social Club in Muscat, where he engaged with the Indian expatriate community and contributed to cultural activities.
Murali is married to Prasanna Murali, a talented professional in her own right. Prasanna previously worked with Nestlé for eight years, and also had stints at OIB and HSBC. She now devotes her time to the home, offering unwavering support to her husband’s professional journey.
The couple has two accomplished children. Their son, Ashiq Murali, is a B.Tech graduate from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, and also holds a diploma in Data Science from Isofe, Bengaluru. He currently works as a Team Lead at Teso in Bengaluru, India. Their daughter, Anugraha Murali, is a commerce graduate and an ACCA holder from Christ University, Bangalore—another bright spark in the family’s next generation.
