Santhosh Geever

Among the expatriates in the Sultanate, Santhosh Geever needs no introduction, having been at the forefront of humanitarian, social, and cultural initiatives for over two decades. He is dedicated to inspiring and uplifting lives through compassion, leadership, and service. His association with Al Hajri Global, one of the leading firms in the country, is fuelling his efforts to provide support and counsel to those in need. He is also connected with the leading legal firm Al Hashmi Law and is channelling this association to further his social commitments. The support of this establishment has enabled him to resolve numerous labour issues faced by Indian expatriates.

Santhosh and his team frequently visit penitentiary facilities to extend a helping hand to expatriates who have been convicted. He goes the extra mile to arrange phone calls for them to connect with their families and provides free legal assistance.

Thanks to his efforts, several Indian expatriates have been able to return home after being released from prison. In addition to aiding those stranded in the Sultanate, he has also played a key role in securing employment for hundreds of Indian nationals in Oman.

A Journey That Began in Kunnamkulam

Born in the ancient town of Kunnamkulam in Kerala’s Thrissur district to schoolteachers Chungath Tharapan Geever and Gracy, Santhosh pursued his pre-degree studies at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur, before obtaining a Diploma in Automobile Engineering from Hindustan Electronics Academy in Bengaluru. Like many young people from Kerala, he travelled to the Sultanate of Oman in 2004. Upon arriving in Muscat, he quickly integrated into Omani society and became actively involved in social initiatives. His efforts were warmly welcomed by the local community.

The Birth of a Humanitarian

After beginning his professional life in Muscat, Santhosh became increasingly involved in social causes. He was appointed by Zebu Investment Partners as their focal point in negotiating a deal with Oman’s Sovereign Wealth Fund OIA. Zebu, which manages an investment portfolio worth over half a billion USD in Africa, employs thousands of Indian expatriates across various countries. The fund creates transformational opportunities for companies along the food value chain, enhancing food production in Africa while providing investors with long-term, above-market returns. Zebu focuses on growing equity investments across the continent. Additionally, Santhosh serves as the brand ambassador for World Vision Products LLC, fostering strategic partnerships within the Sultanate.

Intervention During Gonu

When the country was struck by Cyclone Gonu in 2007—a powerful tropical superstorm— Santhosh and his friends played an instrumental role in organising the distribution of fresh water and food to the affected communities. This was particularly significant given the devastation caused by the cyclone: uprooted power poles, widespread internet and electricity outages, flooded streets and buildings, and isolated communities left without food or water. The estimated damage exceeded 4.2 billion USD.

Saving Lives

Santhosh is actively involved with Lions Clubs International and plays a leading role in organising blood donation camps in Muscat in collaboration with the Ministry of Health blood bank. Additionally, he has contributed to disaster relief efforts, delivering essential supplies to regions hit by calamities, including earthquake-affected areas in Syria and Turkey.

He is also a familiar figure in Muscat’s socio-cultural scene. A staunch supporter of EKATA—a platform designed to nurture the classical dance talents of female students in Indian schools—he was one of the key organisers of the 2024 event, in which the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate was the chief guest.

Equally Active in Kerala

With a lifelong commitment to serving society, Santhosh remains deeply involved in philanthropic initiatives in his home state. He is a board and council member of Chaithanya Special School in Kunnamkulam, a project of the Bala Sahaya Samithi that provides education and support to boys and girls with intellectual disabilities. Chaithanya aspires to be a beacon of hope for the less fortunate, underprivileged, and financially disadvantaged.

He also lends his support to Sahayathra, an organisation in Pattambi, Kerala, dedicated to the welfare of individuals with physical disabilities and those who rely on wheelchairs. Santhosh played a pivotal role in a community house construction project aimed at providing a safe home for a deprived family in his native town. Undertaken by Kunnamkulam Municipality, this project was realised through funds raised by the Muscat-based humanitarian.

Furthermore, he facilitated the renovation and expansion of a library at the Bethany Monastery in Perunna, enhancing its ability to serve the local community.

Awards and Accolades

In recognition of his selfless service, Santhosh has received numerous honours. In 2023, he was commended by Union Ministers V Muraleedharan and Shobha Karandlaje at the Kesari Conclave in New Delhi, an event hosted by Kesari magazine. The following year, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by St Mother Teresa University in Melbourne, Australia, in acknowledgement of his efforts in empowering women and uplifting society.
In the same year, the Oman Thrissur Organisation conferred upon him the position of Guardian as a token of recognition for his unwavering dedication, loyalty, and service to the organisation and the expatriate community from Thrissur district.
