Director of Operations
With experience, professional knowledge, expertise and determination, Shiju Sasidharan has created the perfect mould for success and made a mark in the Gypsum Mining & Gypsum by products business in the Sultanate of Oman. The Director of Operations (Share Holder ) of the Gulf Gypsum Products LLC, which is based in Raysut Industrial Area in Salalah, Shiju is the final word when it comes to Gypsum Mining ,Production Management, Process Management, Quality Assurance, Operations and Maintenance, Marketing and Commissioning of gypsum plant and powder plant. He is also at the vanguard of the project installation and commissioning of the first gypsum board project and other associated works in the country. When it comes to product development, optimization and standardising process norms, Shiju is the strategic planner par excellence.
A Journey That Began in Sreekandapuram
Shiju belongs to Sreekandapuram in Kannur District where he was born to K Sasidharan Nambiar, a timber merchant and politician who was a close associate of veteran Minister for Forests and Wildlife Protection of Kerala A. K. Saseendran and K.Sasidharan Nambiar he holding The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sate committee member and Kannur District NCP Treasurer and he had very close relation with former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran, and R K Meenakshi, a homemaker. He graduated in Chemistry from Pazhassiraja NSS College, Mattannur, after which he bagged a master’s in the same discipline from Jamal Mohamed College in Tiruchirappalli. During his master’s programme, Shiju, who is an NCC C Certificate holder, did a project work entitled ‘Synthesis, characterisation and antimicrobial activity of 5-methyl-2,6-diphenyl-3-benzylidenepiperidin-4-one’, Bed in Physical science in Kerala during BEd Education he representing his College Union and holding post of University Union Councillor.
He began his career in Saint-Gobain Gyproc India Ltd in Bengaluru in July 2009. He started as a Field Chemical Officer and was tasked with handling customer complaints. Shiju continued in that position until January 2010 when he was promoted as QA Executive tasked with implementing the Quality and Process Control Plan for manufacturing defect-free plaster boards. Another responsibility was scrutinising the Analysis and Implementation of the Process Control in the Plaster Board Plant. Shiju also oversaw troubleshooting and took the initiative to analyse the results of data collected to prevent such issues in the future.
Relocating to the Sultanate
The turning point in Shiju’s life came in 2011 when he got the opportunity to move to the Sultanate of Oman. He landed the job of Process and Quality Manager at Global Gypsum Board Co. LLC in Salalah in May that year. He was part of the team of the Gypsum Board Project that oversaw the 20 Million Sqm/Year Capacity Board plant & 150,000MT/Y Plaster powder Production line. Additional responsibilities included the gypsum board plant Process and Quality management, and he was also the ISO Certificate Management Representative for Global Mining Co. LLC, and Global Gypsum Co. LLC. Shiju’s experience and expertise also gave him the additional charge of ensuring the gypsum mining quarry quality and he continued there until 2015.
In May 2015, Shiju returned to Salalah to join Al Safwa International Mining Co. as a Plant Manager. He was in charge of the raw gypsum mining project that comprised 100,000 square metres. In a span of six months, Shiju proved his mettle by completing the installation of the crusher having a capacity of 800 tonnes/hour and production. During his stint with Al Safwa, he was able to visit China for technical discussions. Under his stewardship, the production touched 150,000 tonnes per month. Shiju also controlled the mining activity, Finance, Costing and Manpower Recruitment apart from Marketing. He also undertook the feasibility of the 1,000 Tonnes/Day Gypsum Powder Plant.
The following year, he came back to India to join Eros Mine Rock Products LLP in Gujarat. He leveraged his skills and experience to restart the factory. He was at the vanguard in implementing a new dosing system for raw materials, and starting the production of sanitary plaster. Shiju also oversaw Process and Quality Development apart from producing moisture-resistant and fire-resistant boards. He was instrumental in starting the 350 Tonnes/Day Gypsum Powder Plant and the 10 Million SQM/Year plaster board line equipment selection.
Shiju’s next stint was with Arabian Beam LLC which he joined in September 2016 as Manager and Consultant in Gypsum. While serving in that company, he was in charge of the 250-tonne gypsum powder plant production. He also undertook the feasibility study for the gypsum board line project and the 15 million gypsum plaster board line and the 600 Tonnes/Day gypsum plaster line project. He worked there until January 2018.
His career took another turn when Shiju joined Gipskarton India Private Ltd( Sakarni Plaster Group ) in Delhi as Plant Manager in 2018. He was responsible for the 10 million SQM/Year gypsum plaster board line and the 300 Tonnes/day gypsum plaster plant project and played a key role in the equipment with technical discussions and finalization. Shiju also coordinated the equipment supplier for new designs( the plant can able to make gypsum board from Rajasthan Gypsum and below 75 % purity raw gypsum plant fully design from Europe different place Poland, Italy, France , Netherland and Germany ) and process development and took care of raw material procurement and manpower recruitment.
He was also tasked with the existing plaster line process development and new product development. He remained there until 2023( from 2021 he promoted as Deputy General manager of Gipskartion India Pvt Ltd) . While working in Delhi, he had joined Gulf Gypsum Products LLC in Salalah as Director of Operations in April 2023.and he holding share in Gulf Gypsum Products Co.L LC The company was started in 2018 and it manufactures brand name Gypmar Plaster , a high-performance calcined gypsum powder, engineered to high standards for molding and wall plaster applications . It possesses excellent aesthetics due to its brilliant whiteness derived from high-purity gypsum. The production facility has a capacity of 180,000 MT Annually and he part of Petromar Group, Petromar Holding 30 Company in the world including Gulf Gypsum products LLC. Same time he taking care all operation of Al Mansour Global Enterprises Gypsum Mining , Al Mansour Transportation Company the part of Gulf Gypsum products LLC in Salalah, Oman.
Family and Passions
Shiju, who has a postgraduation in Business Administration and a B.Ed from the University of Kerala, is married to Athulya K. Nambiar, a BSC Nurse, in Belgium. They are blessed with twins Harshitha Shiju and Harshith Shiju, who are in UKG. Shiju, who is a consultant for Gypsum Project in Iraq Gypsum Board( Masat Asia Contracting & General Trading ltd ),In Oman Bethel Trading Co. LLC, Bethel Overseas (SFZ) LLC, Kunooz Oman Holding , In Iran Wasit General Trading LLC, In India Mais Overseas Private Limited. Is passionate about cricket, volleyball and travel.
