Wilson George is a distinguished professional in the Oil and Gas industry, with an illustrious career spanning over 35 years. His journey from an ambitious mechanical engineering graduate to a key professional  in Oman’s energy sector reflects a remarkable blend of expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence. As the Head of Quality Assurance and Control at OQ, the Director of The Kerala Non-Resident Welfare Board, and a dedicated social worker, Mr. George has made significant contributions in the fields of engineering, education, and community service.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. George is a passionate advocate for Indian expatriate welfare in Oman, working tirelessly to address social issues and improve the lives of non-resident Keralites. His story is one of perseverance, leadership, and unwavering dedication to both professional excellence and humanitarian causes.

Born in Nilambur, Kerala, Wilson George pursued his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from NSS Engineering College, Palakkad, in 1987. With a keen interest in professional growth, he later obtained an MBA from Kamaraj University in 2002. His strong academic background laid the foundation for an exceptional career in the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical industries.

Wilson George’s career took off in 1988, when he began working at Chempro Expertise in Mumbai. Over the next seven years, he gained invaluable experience across India, including stints in Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore, working for prestigious firms like Ion Exchange, Idea Lumus and Chemtex.

His global journey began in 1995, when he joined the Engineering and Construction Organization  AL Bahar Jacorossi.  . Over the next nine years, he contributed significantly to Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Oil Company major projects through Parsons Energy & Chemicals and Flour International as Quality Assurance Administrator.

In 2004, Mr. George moved to Oman, taking on the role of Project QA/QC Manager at Sohar Refinery. His expertise quickly propelled him to leadership positions, including Quality Manager at Sohar Refinery (2006-2008) and Manager of Quality and Business Improvement at ORPIC (2008-2011).

His career trajectory continued upward as he became the QA/QC Team Leader at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in 2011, overseeing Quality Management  for critical projects for the country’s leading oil exploration and production company. By 2014, he had taken on a pivotal role at OQ8 (Duqm Refinery Project) as the Head of QA/QC, ensuring the highest standards in oil refining and petrochemical Project. Today, as the Head of Quality Assurance and Control at OQ, he plays a strategic role in Quality Management for  Oman’s energy sector, overseeing critical projects that contribute to the nation’s economic growth and energy security.

Wilson George’s contributions extend far beyond the energy sector. He has been a dedicated leader in expatriate education, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman from 2014 to 2018. During his tenure, he revolutionized the financial transparency, infrastructure, and operational efficiency of Indian schools, which cater to over 45,000 students across 20 CBSE-affiliated institutions.

He made significant contributions in converting the governance of Indian schools from an individual dependent model to system dependent model by developing and implementing systems and procedures in areas of Human Resources, IT, Finance, Safety, Procurement and Contracts New schools were opened, existing Infrastructures enhanced, transport facility for students enhanced, facilities’ safety audits were conducted, and the functioning of schools was streamlined.

His commitment to education also saw him present a research paper on expatriate education at the International Congress on Kerala Studies in 2015.

A relentless advocate for Indian expatriates, Mr. George has played a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by Keralites living in Oman. As the Director of The Kerala Non-Resident Keralites Welfare Board, he leads community welfare activities for Indians in distress and promote the welfare activities /schemes of NORKA for Non Resident Keralites in Oman.

Mr. George was the Co-Convener of the Indian Social Club, Kerala wing from 2012 to 2014 and was its  Cultural coordinator from 2010 to 2012. He is also the Facility Enhancement Secretary, Indian Social Club, Oman.

He also served as the Chief Coordinator of Malayalam Mission in Oman- the Kerala Government Cultural ministry initiative  for Promoting Malayalam Language and Culture.

For his extraordinary service to the Indian community, Mr. George was honored as ‘Indian of the Year’ by the Indian Social Club, Oman in the year 2019. He is also a member of the Loka Kerala Sabha, from the Sultanate of Oman.

Despite his demanding career and social commitments, Mr. George remains deeply rooted in family values. He is married to Mrs. Cisily, a teacher by profession. The couple’s children have pursued illustrious careers. Their son, Vinay Wilson, is a Mechanical  Engineering graduate from NIT Calicut  working as Captain with Indigo Airlines married to Priyanka who also works in the aviation Industry.

Wilson George’s journey is one of perseverance, leadership, and selfless service. Simultaneously, his unwavering dedication to education and social service has left an indelible mark on the expatriate community in Oman.

From ensuring the highest engineering standards in the petroleum industry to transforming Indian schools and advocating for expatriate rights, Mr. George’s contributions embody excellence, integrity, and compassion. His legacy serves as an inspiration for professionals, social workers, and community leaders alike, demonstrating that true success lies not just in career achievements but in uplifting the lives of others.
