Rajan Paul, a dynamic entrepreneur and the Managing Director of Middle East Oilfield Services LLC (MIDOIL), has carved a remarkable niche in the oil and gas industry of the Sultanate of Oman. Hailing from the cultural heart of Kerala, Thrissur, and raised amidst the bustling energy of Mumbai, Mr. Rajan Paul embodies the perfect amalgamation of heritage, ambition, and innovation. His journey to a leader of multiple enterprises in the Sultanate of Oman is a testament to his unwavering dedication and visionary leadership.
Born into the illustrious Padathiparambil family, Mr. Rajan Paul’s upbringing in Mumbai was deeply influenced by his father, Padathiparambil Jospeh Paul, a former Royal Air Force staff after short terms assignment worked in Mumbai / Oman / Saudi Arabia & Iraq. Mr. Rajan Paul started his career in Oman working with Saud General Trading & Contracting Co. as their Manager to severe clients like PDO etc. for one year & then with Elf – Total prior to establishing his venture, Mr. Rajan Paul gained valuable experience in the procurement, transport, and housing division of Elf-Total for 13 years, further enriching his expertise in the oil and gas sector.
In 1992, driven by a passion for excellence and a vision for growth, Mr. Rajan Paul cofounded Middle East Oilfield Services LLC with H.E. Sayyid Saud Ibrahim Al Busaidy. Mr. Paul became the driving force behind MIDOIL, transforming it into a leading name in Oman’s oil and gas industry. The company boasts an impressive portfolio of global partnerships and is a Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) & other Oil cos. approved vendor.
MIDOIL’s scope extends beyond oil and gas, serving water treatment plants, power plants, and a myriad of industrial sectors including petrochemicals, cement, and shipping. With an expert sales and service team comprising specialized engineers, the company ensures seamless support in both technical and commercial domains. MIDOIL’s comprehensive range of offerings includes advanced valves, control systems, corrosion monitoring equipment, and instrumentation solutions, among others. MIDOIL’s sales and service team includes Graduate Engineers with specialization in specific disciplines and vast experience to provide continuous and comprehensive support, encompassing Techno–Commercial areas.
MIDOIL is the supplier of Valves (Ball / Gate / Globe / Check / Butterfly / Solenoid); Instrumentation Valves (SBB / DBB /Manifolds / Fittings); Control Valves – Process / Automation; Wellhead Systems – Pneumatic / Hydraulic etc.; Corrosion Monitoring / Chemical Injection Fittings; and Instrumentation Measuring Devices and Pipes and Tubes. The group is also the local representative of Gulf Oil, a Hinduja Group Company.
Rajan Paul was director of Oman Ceramics from 2006 & later served as Vice-Chairman at Oman Ceramic Co. SAOG from 2018 to 2021.
Another entity in which Mr. Rajan Paul was partner & involved in was Darwish Ast LLC. The origins of the company can be traced back to Graz in Austria where it was founded in 1898 as Messrs Ed. Ast & Co. Ingenieur. A sister concern, Overseas Ast Co. Ltd was established in Kuwait. Companies under the same name opened in the Trucial Oman States, now the United Arab Emirates, in 1960 and in Muscat and Oman, as the Sultanate of Oman was then known, in 1964.
The company was reformed in 1976 under the new name Darwish Ast LLC with the majority shareholding held by Omani nationals including member of the royal family. Darwish Ast LLC was again restructured on May 1, 2004 along with H.H. Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, H.E. Sayyid Saud Ibrahim Al Busaidy & Rajan Paul.
Darwish Ast LLC was part of the development story of the Sultanate of Oman. Many of the important projects in the Sultanate from 1964 can be attributed to the strength of the company. The firm was involved in the restoration of historic buildings in the Sultanate. Some of the works involved reproduction of period interiors. The company has been involved in projects of the Diwan of Royal Court. The most prestigious project under taken by the company in the Sultanate was that of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat. The company was entrusted with the interior marble and ceramic mosaic works and also the exterior and interior doors of the beautiful mosque.
Mr. Rajan Paul sold his stakes in the company to H.H. Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said later.
Another noteworthy enterprise is Wilmax Controls, a joint venture with a Singapore-based firm specializing in valve automation and well-control systems.
In addition, Mr. Paul has diversified his interests into real estate.

Despite his remarkable professional achievements, Mr. Paul remains grounded and altruistic. An avid traveler and car enthusiast, he cherishes spending quality time with elderly individuals, embodying a philosophy of quiet philanthropy. His belief in “letting not the left hand know what the right hand does” highlights his preference for discreet charity work.
Mr. Rajan Paul is married to Sheeba, became a director of the company and a homemaker . The couple has two daughters. The elder one, Tilly is an engineer who graduated in ECE from Birla Institute of Technology And Science, Ranchi. She is a partner in Middle East Oilfield Services LLC along with her husband, Joe Johnsons Pandarakalam, who has an MS in Engineering from Germany. Tilly has three children — Joshua, Hana and Johan. The second daughter, Tara, who has done her engineering in ECE from Birla Institute of Technology And Science, Ranchi is also a postgraduate in international business (MBA) from Symbiosis, Pune. She is married to George Melamparampil, who has done his dual engineering in Computer Science and Electronics. The couple has their own business in Oman as well as in India. Tara and George have two children – Hazel and Andrew.
