Young, motivated, and diligent, Abdul Latheef P V, the Director of the Al Shadi Group, belongs to the young generation of entrepreneurs in the Sultanate who are determined to make a mark without compromising on their ideals. Following in his father’s footsteps, he runs a flourishing restaurant business in Salalah under the Al Shadi brand name. He has floated another brand, Abu Hamdan, and is eyeing a toehold in the events industry.
A Journey That Began in Valapattanam
Abdul belongs to Valapattanam in Kannur District, where he was born to Abdul Khader, a businessman in Oman, and Aisha P V. From the age of seven, he was brought up in Salalah, where his father was running a restaurant business. When he completed Class VIII, he went back to Kerala to continue his schooling. After completing Class XII, he was sent to Dubai to work in the shop of a friend. After a brief stint, he came back to Kannur to privately pursue Accountancy and Tally.
In 2016, he returned to Oman on a dependent visa and helped his father’s business. Those were the days when he struggled to overcome odds, learn the ropes of the trade, and understand first-hand the lessons of survival. There were times when he spent countless hours in the restaurant managing everything from A to Z. Today, Al Shadi has three branches, including one in Mirbat near Salalah.
After acquiring the brand name Abu Hamdan, which is named after his eldest son, he is in the process of launching yet another high-end restaurant under that moniker. Under the auspices of Abu Hamdan, Abdul is also preparing to conduct a mega star night in Salalah with noted Malayalam playback singer and actor Hanan Shah as the prime attraction.
Family
Abdul credits his better half, Ajmala Farhath, a Commerce graduate, for being a perennial source of support. They are blessed with two children, Mohammed Hamdan, who is six-and-a-half-years old, and Bishrul Hafi, who is two years old.
