With more than 45 years in the shipping and logistics industry, Abdul Rahim Kasim is widely respected as one of the pioneering maritime professionals in Oman and the GCC region. His journey is a story of dedication, vision, and steady leadership in an industry that never stands still.

Starting his career in the early 1980s in ship agency and freight operations, Abdul Rahim quickly developed deep knowledge of shipping, port operations, and international trade. Over the years, he grew into a trusted industry expert in ship agency, chartering, logistics, project cargo, heavy lift transportation, and marine offshore support services.

A Historic Milestone for Oman

One of the proudest moments in his career came in the mid-1980s when he played a key role in bringing CMA CGM one of the world’s largest container shipping company — to Muscat Port (Port Sultan Qaboos) to do t/shipment operations.

This was a historic achievement. CMA CGM (then CMA) became the first shipping line to use Muscat (Port Sultan Qaboos) as a transshipment hub, relaying Europe Cargo to Gulf and Indian Sub Continent Ports. placing Oman on the regional container trade map. The service continued successfully for three years and marked an important chapter in the country’s maritime industry.

Building Strong Maritime Businesses

In 1987, Abdul Rahim helped to establish Badar Shipping Agencies LLC. Today, he leads two companies — Badar Shipping Agencies LLC and Red Sea Shipping Agencies LLC. Also he was instrumental in establishing other logistics business units for the owner of the Badar Shipping Group. Currently about 90 professionals are under his command.

Under his leadership, the company signed a JV with Rais Hassan Saadi Group (RHS) UAE, Pioneer in the Shipping industry established in 1910. Have secured agency representation for well-known global shipping lines such as COSCO, Hyundai, and Wan Hai, along with major heavy lift and breakbulk carriers. Through strong relationships, careful planning, and market understanding, he expanded the companies reach and strengthened their international partnerships.

Abdul Rahim has deep knowledge of shipping and port regulations, liner container / break bulk operations, voyage calculations, and BIMCO charter contracts. He is especially experienced in handling project cargo, heavy lift shipments, and complex marine operations.

He believes strongly in continuous learning, and earned a Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management. In 2018, he even delivered a presentation in Shanghai on global container freight rates and their impact on world trade.

Having visited 54 countries during his career, he combines global exposure with strong regional expertise across Oman and the Middle East.

Leadership Beyond Business

Apart from his professional achievements, Abdul Rahim has always believed in giving back to the community. He served in leadership roles at Indian School Darsait (ISD), Oman, including Treasurer, Convener, and later President.

During his time as president, the school grew significantly in student strength and academic reputation. He was instrumental in transitioning the school to the CBSE curriculum — a major step that improved educational standards and broadened opportunities for students. Also he took the initiative to bring School transport system for the students under one umbrella to have a better control of the Drivers and thereby students safety.

Colleagues describe Abdul Rahim as calm, practical, and solution-oriented. He is known for his negotiation skills, strong relationships in the industry, and ability to manage challenges with confidence. Above all, he believes in ethical business practices and long-term partnerships.
