When a good number of healthcare professionals tend to stick to their field, here is an expatriate doctor who is doing great service to healthcare as well as education. Dr Shaji Sreedhar, a Homeopathic physician for the past 26 years, is the Manager and Chief Physician of Al Manara Homoeo Clinic in Salalah and is serving as the Treasurer and Finance Committee Chairperson of the Indian School in the city. He is also known among NRI circles for his health awareness talks and blood donation drives.
A Healing Journey That Began in Naduvannur
Dr. Shaji belongs to Naduvannur in Kozhikode District, where he was born to K Sreedharan Nair, a retired high school teacher, and P P Pankajavalli Amma, a high school teacher. After completing his Pre-Degree at Devagiri College, he did his Homoeo studies at Father Muller Medical College in Mangalore. After studies, he served as the MD and Chief Consultant at P S Homoeo Medical Centre in Kakkattil for a decade.
It was in 2004 that he came to Oman, where he served as a Homoeo Consultant at City Homoeopathic Clinic in Salalah until 2021. Since 2022, he has been at the helm of Al Manara Homeo Clinic in the city.
This celebrated physician is a member of several associations related to Homoeopathy in India and overseas. He is a staunch believer in integrating medicine and has contributed a lot to helping spread awareness about alternative medicine in Oman. Dr Shaji believes in a holistic approach and is a strong advocate of the importance of mental health.
All-Rounder
For more than five years, Dr Shaji has been a member of the School Management Committee of Indian School Salalah and is currently its Treasurer and Finance Chairperson.
For more than four years, Dr Shaji was the Co Convenor of the Kerala Wing of the Indian Social Club in Salalah, and then he served as the Convenor for next four years. He was also the secretary of KSK for 5 years . He is the member of Malayala Vibhagam for more than 25 years, and the Secretary of the Malayalam Mission Salalah Chapter.
Family and Passions
Dr Hridya S Menon, a Lecturer at the University of Technology and Applied Science in Salalah, is the better half of Dr Shaji, and they have two sons. The eldest, Hridith Sudev, is a Doctor in Public Health at Mercer University in Atlanta, USA, and the youngest one, Samved, is a student at Arizona Medical University in the United States. Amidst his busy schedule, Dr Shaji finds time to pursue his hobbies of playing volleyball and travelling.
