Some journeys are shaped by ambition; others by perseverance and the courage to embrace opportunity. The story of Johnson P George reflects all three.
Born in Ayoor, Kollam, Kerala, Johnson holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Luna Institute of Engineering Technology, Irinjalakuda. In 1988, he moved to the Sultanate of Oman, beginning a professional journey that would eventually lead him from employment to entrepreneurship.
His early career included two years with Sultan Special Force, followed by a position as Sales Executive with Getco Group of Companies. He later joined WJ Towell’s Building Materials Division, where he progressed from Sales Executive to Sales in Charge. These years gave him valuable experience and an in-depth understanding of the building materials industry.
The year 2010 marked a defining turning point. With years of industry experience behind him, Johnson took the entrepreneurial step and established Al Maamoon United Trading Company and Al Maamoon Building Solutions Est. What began with just five employees has grown into a business with 40 staff members and four showrooms.
Today, Al Maamoon offers a diverse range of products serving the construction and building-services sectors, including paints and protective coatings, plumbing and piping supplies, sanitaryware, ironmongery, waterproofing solutions, and building materials. Its portfolio includes established brands such as Jotun Paints, WD-40, Gojo, MolySlip, Ideal Standard, Grohe, Jomoo, Mac and Kerovit . The company serves clients across important sectors, including the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Royal Court Affairs, and several star hotels.
Johnson’s journey, however, is not defined by business growth alone. It is also a story of family and succession. He is married to Marykutty Johnson, a staff nurse at Sultan Qaboos Hospital, and they have two sons, Nevin Johnson and Nithin Johnson, who are now part of the family business.
Nevin Johnson, the Sales Manager, holds a BTech from CUSAT in Kochi and an MBA from IGNOU. Nithin Johnson, the Administration Manager, holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from Marian Institute of Management in Kuttikkanam. Their involvement marks the beginning of the next generation’s role in the enterprise.
From Ayoor to Salalah, from civil engineering to sales, and ultimately from employee to entrepreneur, Johnson P George’s story is one of steady progress built on experience, determination, and the courage to seize opportunity.
The business he established in 2010 stands today as a reflection of that journey—and, through the involvement of the next generation, as a foundation for a legacy that continues to grow.
